Getting hold of a person

Every address below reaches somebody who works on Lament. There is no ticket queue and no chatbot in front of them.

Joining the testing group

Lament is in private testing before release. Testers get builds before they are public, and their reports change what ships — several of the things in the app now exist because a tester said the previous version got something wrong.

Email aaron@wayfarersdigital.com from the address your phone’s app store account uses. The invitation has to go to that address to let you in, so it has to be that one rather than another you prefer.

Ask to join

Tell us which phone you use, and we’ll send the right invitation or tell you when there is one.

What to expect as a tester

  • New builds arrive on their own once you are set up — there is never anything to reinstall.
  • Your journal is the real thing, not a sandbox — entries you write while testing are kept, and carry over when the app goes public.
  • Leaving is a normal uninstall, and your entries stay in your account.

Before you write in

A few things that come up often, answered here so nobody has to wait on a reply for them.

I signed in on a new phone and my entries are missing

Sign in with the same provider you used originally. Google, Microsoft and email addresses are separate accounts even when the address looks the same, so signing in with Google when you first used email will open an empty journal rather than yours. Nothing is lost — it is behind the other sign-in.

A reflection did not arrive

The app says so rather than showing you something it did not generate. If it keeps happening, that is worth an email: it usually means a monthly allowance is spent, and the app should be telling you that plainly rather than failing.

I want everything deleted

You can do it yourself from inside the app, and it takes effect immediately. How account deletion works.

Lament is a journal, not care. It is not a substitute for a doctor, a counsellor, or a pastor. If you are in danger, please contact your local emergency services — in the United States, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, by call or text. Please do not wait on an email from us.
